ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
September 19, 1998 at 9:00 a.m.
At the Burlington Convention Centre

The meeting was called to order at 09:00 by the Chairman, Ronald Danks
BUSINESS ARISING
Opening Remarks
Ronald Danks (President) welcomed the chapter members to the meeting and introduced the board:
Bill Dickson (Director)
Connie Kowlaski (Director)
Karen Reynolds (Director)
Penman Smith (Vice President)
Steve Warner (Secretary)
In addition, he introduced George Shirton our accountant (acting Treasurer).
Ralph Candlish (Director), Craig Robson (Director) and Don Luke (acting Director) were absent.
Minutes of the last AGM
Ron asked for a motion to dispense with reading of minutes after highlighting the major points. H.C.C. 294 made the motion and the motion carried, all in favour.
Treasurer Report
George Shirton reviewed the auditors (B.D.O.) report on the financial standing of the Chapter. Our year end assets had a slight decrease over last year. There were no questions. George (H.C.C. 18) motioned for the audited financial statements to be accepted. N.N.C.C. 32 seconded and the motion carried, all in favour.
Appointment of Auditor
George Shirton (H.C.C. 18) motioned to appoint B.D.O. as Auditor for next year. H.C.C. 294 seconded and the motion carried, all in favour.
President's Report
Ron summarised the years events:
- Condo News; it's quality and content is improving.
- Hamilton Home Show success; plans for attendance in Jan 99.
- Education Courses that were successful in the Fall and Spring.
- Planned courses, seminars for upcoming year were outlined.
- Membership drive with the efforts of Bill Dickson and the co-operation of Maria Finoro contributed significantly to our membership this year; we are the third largest chapter of the CCI.
- The revamping of our web site through the efforts of Steve Warner.
- National CCI AGM at the Joint A.C.M.O./CCI Conference on November 13, 1998
Ron also spoke on the importance of renewing your chapter membership early.
Ron acknowledged Penman Smith for his award of the A.C.C.I. fellowship that recognizes Pen for significant accomplishments to the CCI. Ron reviewed Pen's actions as one of the founding fathers of the organisation.
Nominations Election of Directors
One position on the board is available due to the resignation of Jim Chapman. A question concerning responsibilities was raised from the floor and Ron responded. Ron reported that Don Luke has been acting as an interim board member since Jim Chapman's resignation. He has submitted a letter stating his intent to be nominated this year. He was nominated by Ron Danks. There were no other nominees. Ron motioned to close nominations. H.C.C. 34 seconded and Don was acclaimed to the Board.
NEW BUSINESS
Ron asked if there was any new business from the floor.
Conflict of Interest
W.C.C. 45 asked about a potential conflict of interest when Ron represented a condominium corporation as their solicitor, and responded to questions from owners on behalf of the C.C.I. Ron replied in that situation he would refer the question to Craig Robson.
C.C.I. National
Ron outlined the C.C.I. Nationals role, their relationship to the Golden Horseshoe Chapter and how the C.C.I. is organized nationally. Ron serves on the Board of Directors for C.C.I. National. Ron also spoke about the C.C.I.'s planned National conference in conjuction with A.C.M.O. on November 13th in Toronto and the C.C.I. National Conference in plan for Hamilton in the year 2000.
There was no other new business.

Meeting adjourned at 10:00
A seminar summarising Bill 38 was conducted following the meeting which concluded at 12:30. Refreshments were served.
